We’ve had a massive weekend, with Perth’s first ever Fayyaz Sumbal Cup, and the third running of the event in Lahore.
Over in Perth, the Pakistani Community XI were triumphant over the Australian Federal Police XI at McLean Oval, Floreat.
Batting first, the Pakistani Community XI notched up 183, with their captain top scoring with a brilliant 98.
In response, the AFP came up short, with the players blaming old hamstrings for the deficit.
Most importantly though, cricket was the real winner, and the game was played in the spirit and good humour befitting the occasion.
Cricket is perhaps the best way to break down barriers between Pakistan and Australia, and a lot of good will can be generated by simply having a hit.
Well done to Marzio, Kamil and Yasser for organising a brilliant day, and congratulations to the Pakistan Community XI on an impressive win.
To all our friends in Perth and across Australia – please donate to this wonderful cause. Your contributions will directly assist the families of police officers killed and wounded in the line of duty.
